Ancient Resolutions, Modern Goals

Ancient Resolutions, Modern Goals
Did you know that the tradition of New Year’s resolutions is over 4,000 years old? The practice dates back to ancient Babylon, where people celebrated the New Year in mid-March with a massive festival called Akitu. They made promises to their gods to pay debts and return borrowed items. If they kept their word, they believed the gods would favor them for the year ahead. 💫

Fast forward to ancient Rome, and we meet Janus, the two-faced god of beginnings and transitions. January is named after him, making it the perfect time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. Romans honored Janus by offering sacrifices and making promises for self-improvement. 🏺

These ancient traditions evolved into the resolutions we make today! From setting fitness goals to pursuing career milestones, the New Year sparks a sense of renewal. ✨

At Squeem, we celebrate starting the year with positivity and self-kindness. 💖 Whether you’re chasing a new dream or just enjoying the journey, remember that every day is a chance to shine. 🌟 Goals are great, but appreciating yourself through the process is even better.

What’s your resolution this year? Or better yet, how are you celebrating you? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 📝
