Women Behind the Glow

Women Behind the Glow
🌟 Tiffany lamps, synonymous with timeless beauty, owe much of their splendor to the often-overlooked brilliance of Clara Driscoll and the “Tiffany Girls.” Clara, an Ohio-born designer, joined Tiffany Glass Company in 1888 and became the head of its Women’s Glass Cutting Department, managing a team of up to 35 skilled artisans. These women specialized in selecting and cutting glass for Tiffany’s exquisite windows, shades, and mosaics, 🎨 playing an instrumental role in some of the studio’s most iconic designs.

Clara’s artistry shines through in masterpieces like the Wisteria and Dragonfly lamps, among more than thirty lamps she designed during her 20-year career. Her Dragonfly design earned a bronze medal 🥉 at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair, and her Wisteria table lamp, introduced in 1905, was one of Tiffany Studios’ most expensive and popular pieces. 💎 Despite her pivotal contributions, the achievements of Clara and her team remained largely unacknowledged until letters detailing their work were uncovered in the 21st century.

Clara’s story is a testament to perseverance 💪 in an era when women’s opportunities were limited. Her legacy continues to inspire, 🌟 reminding us of the countless women whose creativity shaped history.

Squeem values the stories of Clara and the Tiffany Girls, which highlight the strength , ingenuity, and artistry 🎨 of women throughout history. We honor their legacies and the empowering spirit they continue to inspire in us today. 🌷✨
